Now in its third year, National Memory Screening Day is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and takes place annually during National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. The free screenings promote early detection and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses, and also provide information about successful aging. There are screening sites in nearly all 50 states.
Healthcare professionals administer the ten-minute, non-invasive, confidential screenings. The screenings are intended to flag a potential problem, and allow professionals to answer questions and emphasize the importance of follow-up for at-risk individuals.
