There’s no need to forgo a traditional turkey dinner this Thanksgiving. At a hearing intended to review issues related to the prevention, detection and eradication of avian influenza, an expert witness from the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently testified that poultry in North America is safe to eat.

“Asian bird flu is not in North America and we are taking action to prevent its introduction,” says House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Bob Goodlatte. “Consumers can be assured that properly prepared poultry is as safe today as it has always been.”
