A study by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found that aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may help prevent esophageal cancer from developing in patients diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus. Patients with this precancerous condition are 50 times more likely to develop throat cancer than those without it. In the study of 350 people diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus, those taking aspirin were one-third less likely to develop esophageal cancer.
